Members
We love our members – they’re the foundation blocks of our club, the lifeblood. And we must be doing something right: From the initial core group of men who held their first AGM in May 1912, and of women who followed this up with their first AGM in June 1912, our membership has grown to approx 760.
We’re a club for all – one that doesn’t distinguish between culture, creed, colour, class. With the change to our governance structure in 2019, gender-specific fees were abolished and members are treated equally in all aspects of club life. Unlike the undulating course, our club is a level playing field. Progressive, modern, friendly to the core.
Programmes embracing youth, women, and the less abled are standout successes in our commitment to our core values.
Besides the casual and competitive golf, and we’ve already waxed lyrical about the course, one of the best things about our club is the social aspect, the lifelong friendships, the networking, the craic.
Off-course we embrace our deep-seated links and service to the community, raising tens of thousands of pounds down the years for charities. In 2020/21 despite the challenges of COVID-19, our fundraising amassed another £60K through various activities: an open competition in support of member Rory Best’s Miles2Mayo walk for Cancer Fund for Children; the Darren Weir charity days; captains’ days in aid of Southern Area Hospice Services. Others to benefit were MindWise, Action Cancer, Alzheimers Society, Perinatal Trust, and Storehouse Community Foodbank.
In the heart of the community, with the community at heart.
